Mechanical Engineering

Mechanical engineers help shape the way we live through the design and manufacture of everyday items, from sports equipment to high-tech operating theatres for hospitals, vehicles and public transport infrastructure, and industrial applications such as the structural design of oil platforms. A wide range of skills are needed to achieve this in an efficient, environmentally friendly and sustainable way.

This programme will develop your knowledge and skills across the full range of mechanical engineering, from the fundamentals of design and manufacture to fluid dynamics. This degree will give you a broad base of knowledge which can be applied to a variety of mechanical engineering-related industries and beyond.

Rewarding careers
Mechanical Engineering is the broadest of all engineering disciplines. Mechanical engineers can be found working around the world, from running oil platforms to working on automation and robotics, designing futuristic buildings and working in the manufacturing industry. As a graduate of this programme you can expect to secure a professional or managerial position with organisations such as AMEC, BAE Systems, Jaguar Land Rover, Rolls-Royce, Mars and Shell.

Two degrees in four years
Upon successful completion of your programme of study, you will be awarded with a BEng in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Leeds and the SWJTU Bachelor degree of Mechanical Design, Manufacture and Automation.
