11月12日下午,利兹学院首次科研座谈会在西南交通大学犀浦校区3号教学楼X30519举行。本次活动邀请了利兹大学的材料工程助理教授Dimitrios Kontziampasis带来主题为“微纳工程:从基础研究到实际应用”的专题分享。利兹学院副院长黄涛,利兹学院机械专业负责人田怀文,15名机械、材料专业教师和学院“青年优才”教师代表,以及60名本、博学生代表参加本次活动。
The inaugural research seminar of the SWJTU-Leeds Joint School was successfully held on the afternoon of 12th November in Room X30519, Teaching Building 3, at SWJTU's Xipu Campus. The event featured a keynote presentation by Dr. Dimitrios Kontziampasis, Assistant Professor of Materials Engineering from the University of Leeds, titled "Micro and Nano Engineering: From Basic Research to Practical Applications." Attendees included Deputy Dean Tao Huang, Mechanical Engineering Program Director Huaiwen Tian, 15 faculty representatives from mechanical engineering and materials science, including members of the "Young Talents", alongside 60 undergraduate and PhD student representatives.

Dimitrios Kontziampasis围绕微流控生物医学设备、纳米制造工业应用、跨学科工程解决方案及实际案例四大板块,结合自身研究成果进行了生动翔实的讲解。他重点分享了材料表面工程在医疗健康、能源与可持续性领域的创新应用,以及传统制造向先进材料转型的路径探索,吸引了在场师生的广泛关注。
Dr. Kontziampasis delivered an engaging presentation structured around four key areas: microfluidic biomedical devices, industrial applications of nanofabrication, interdisciplinary engineering solutions, and practical case studies, which he illustrated with findings from his own research. He placed particular emphasis on innovative applications of material surface engineering in healthcare, energy, and sustainability, as well as on exploring pathways for transitioning from traditional manufacturing to advanced materials. His insights garnered significant interest from the faculty and students present.

During the interactive Q&A session, Dr. Kontziampasis engaged in active discussions with participants on topics including the challenges and opportunities within micro and nano engineering, bridging academic research with industrial applications, and potential directions for interdisciplinary collaboration. These exchanges provided novel insights and fresh perspectives for ongoing research and practical initiatives.
