The final round of the 9th SWJTU Spelling Bee, hosted by the SWJTU-Leeds Joint School Student Union, took place on April 28 at Xipu Campus. Since its launch in 2016, the competition has become a flagship cultural event on campus.

Deputy Dean Dariusz Wanatowski emphasized the importance of integrating competitive spirit into daily English learning during his opening remarks. The final featured four rounds—Timed Spelling, Video Dictation, Speed Battle, and Race to the Champion—where contestants demonstrated strong vocabulary skills and composure.

Mechanical Engineering students Yang Yunkai and Li Peize (2024 cohort) jointly claimed the title of "Vocabulary King." Other awards, including Best Stage Presence and Most Popular, were also presented.

In his closing speech, Dean Jin Zhongmin heaped praise on all the participants for their exceptional performances, emphasizing that spelling is a fundamental pillar of language learning and cultural comprehension. He further reaffirmed the SWJTU-Leeds Joint School's unwavering commitment to nurturing globally-minded talents through its robust international education initiatives.
