At 19:00 on October 27, 2022, defense for the final report of the 2022 Summer Research Inspiration Internships of the SWJTU-Leeds Joint School was held in X30552, X30549, X30546 and X30544, and officials of the School and project instructors from different programmes acted as judges at the defense.

Each project team presented their defense in English, covering project introduction, process, achievements, and innovative results. Notably, through a video, the team of Study on Mechanical Properties of Super Tough Fiber Cement Composite Plate Reinforced by Basalt Fiber Composite Reinforcement, supervised by Zhang Rui from the Programme of Civil Engineering with Transport, demonstrated the difference in bearing capacity between the studied material “Ren Wo Xing” (Free My Will) and traditional concrete slab, and the presentation was highly commended by all the judges. The team also landed the first prize in the 8th Sichuan College Students “Internet Plus” Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition. The excellent performance of each project team won the praise of the judges and received warm applause from the students. The judges gave their valuable comments on the research methods, research results, defense tips and data usage, and offered suggestions for each project team, from which the students benefited so much.

The Defense has stimulated the students' interest in research and showed the way for their further studies.
