On Sep. 29, the Joint School received the visit from Yao Faming, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Committee and Vice President of SWJTU, and directors of the Talent Affairs Office, Academic Affairs Office, Office of Human Resources, Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, and Office of Budget and Finance. Jiuwen Jiang, Secretary of the Joint School CPC Committee , Zhongmin Jin, Dean of the Joint School, members of the management of the School and heads of each center attended the meeting.

On behalf of the Joint School, Jiang welcomed Yao’s team. Jin made a general introduction and briefed on the recent achievements in the development of School and platform building, teaching, faculty training, enrollment and employment, scale promotion, talent introduction, communication between the two Universities and international affairs. Duo Zhao, CPC Deputy Secretary General of the Joint School, and Yan Zhu, Vice Dean of the Joint School, made reports on their respective work.

The directors of the university departments concurred that they would strongly support the Joint School and put forward solutions to the specific issues demanding for assistance and coordination of the University.

Yao praised the Joint School for the achievements secured in recent years, and required the staff to study the spirit of the 15th The National Party Congress and promote high-quality development. He further pointed out:

First, we should fully understand the requirements of the "Emerging Engineering Education" and use them as the benchmark in performance evaluation, pinpointing the start and key area for future high-quality development.

Second, we should continue to optimize the training plan and mode through such ways as delivering more excellent courses and opening more channels and platforms to further enrich students' scope and structure of knowledge, improve their practice and innovation competence, and develop them into top intellectuals with global competitiveness.

Third, we should enroll more high-caliber and motivated students in the strive to build "Double First-Class" University, and attach great importance to localization, including optimizing teacher training, promoting talent introduction, and achieving the periodic objectives and accomplishing tasks.

After the meeting, the participants inspected the Joint School.
